فهرست اولیه نامزدهای اسکار ۲۰۲۴ اعلام شد.
در هر شاخه از جمله بهترین فیلم بین‌المللی، بهترین مستند بلند، بهترین ترانه و موسیقی متن، و ۱۵ فیلم برگزیده شده‌اند در حالی که در بخش‌های صدا، جلوه‌های ویژه و گریم ده فیلم به فهرست راه پیدا کرده‌اند.
طبق انتظار، فیلم «باربی» (Barbie) با راه‌یابی به پنج فهرست اولیه پیشتاز اسکار 2024 است و بخت بالایی برای دریافت اسکار بهترین ترانه اریجینال و موسیقی متن دارد. «قاتلین ماه گل» (Killers of the Flower Moon) «مارتین اسکورسیزی» و «جامعه برف» (Society of the Snow) «جی.ای. بایونا» با راه یافتن به چهار فهرست اولیه در رتبه‌های بعدی قرار دارند. چندین فیلم از جمله «اوپنهایمر» (Oppenheimer)، «ناپلئون» (Napoleon) و «موجودات بیچاره» (Poor Things) به سه فهرست راه پیدا کرده‌اند.
نامزدهای اولیه اسکار 2024 در بخش بهترین جلوه‌های ویژه پیش‌تر درز کرده بود و نام «اوپنهایمر» در آن دیده نمی‌شد. فهرست رسمی اسکار 2024 تأیید کرد که تازه‌ترین ساخته نولان در عین ناباوری نامزد دریافت اسکار جلوه‌های ویژه نخواهد شد.
سال گذشته فیلم «در جبهه غرب خبری نیست» (All Quiet on the Western Front) نتفلیکس در پنج شاخه به فهرست اولیه راه پیدا کرد و در نهایت نامزد اسکار در هر پنج شاخه شد.
نامزدهای نهایی اسکار نود و ششم سه‌شنبه، ۲۳ ژانویه ۲۰۲۴ معرفی خواهند شد.
